This is a place called Pella, about 30 miles south of the Sea of Galilee on the Jordan side of the Jordan-Israeli border. I came here just before sunset to see the most beautiful landscape I'd ever seen. Something about the Levantine landscape at this time of year made Pella seem almost magical. The city was named after the birthplace of Alexander the Great when he and his army came through here early in the 4th century BCE. The area was inhabited long before this though, as continued excavations reveal almost constant settlements from the Iron and Bronze Ages.
