Sneferu’s second pyramid is called the ‘Bent’ pyramid for its change in angle of the sides. It is thought the original design had to be altered when the pyramid became unstable mid-construction. The structure was changed to lessen the load on the pyramid’s inner chambers and base. There are wooden beams in the inner chamber bracing the walls in what may have been desperation to keep the structure intact.
