This is the so-called ‘Red’ pyramid at Dashur, just a few miles outside Cairo. It is the third pyramid built by the pharaoh Sneferu during the 4th dynasty, around 2600 BCE. Sneferu was the father of Khufu, who built the Great pyramid.
