This is the inside of the Citadel complex on a cliff overlooking the city. The complex houses may buildings, including museums, the mosques of Muhammad Ali, Suleiman, an-Nasr Muhammad, and several palaces. Originally constructed in 1176 by Salah ad-Din, this was the seat of Egyptian power for over 700 years.
