I took this shot of the Nile and the city of Aswan while walking back from Saint Simeon’s Monastery. The camel rider added a sense of scale to the vast desert on this bank of the Nile. I visited here in late July 2007, and the recorded temperature was 45 Celsius at my hotel before I went on this walk. Not Surprisingly, I was the only person in this area, with the exception of the camel riders.
